I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#61247254) in Washington state and a registered associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#119249) in California under the supervision of Karina Parker Knight LMFT (#48111).
My physical office is in Davis, CA , and I also work with clients virtually throughout Washington and California via telehealth.
As both a couples and individual therapist, I practice emotion-focused therapy (EFT) with influences from attachment and family system theories. In addition to this, I draw on my experience as a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor to bring a holistic approach to my work, engaging both the body and the mind because I believe, as Esther Perel so eloquently said, “the body often contains emotional truths that words can too easily gloss over.”
I was drawn to pursue my specialties for both academic and personal reasons. I became interested in sex therapy in graduate school when I had the opportunity to work under Dr. Tina Schermer Sellers, and felt passionate about deepening my expertise in the field of sexual intimacy and sexual identities. I started taking courses through the Northwest Institute on Intimacy (NWIOI) and I am now a Certified Integrated Intimacy Professional.
I did not enter the world of perinatal mental health until I experienced my own late-term pregnancy loss. This experience opened my eyes to the nuanced and often complicated journey to parenthood. Approximately 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in loss, and 1 in 8 couples experience infertility issues. The fact that these are so common and yet so underrepresented in the culture today makes what is already a challenging experience even harder to navigate. I am passionate about walking alongside others on this journey.
I am a native Californian, lover of sunshine and the beach. I am happily married and have one beautiful child and two precocious cats. I love adventuring in the outdoors with my family, working in my wild garden and gathering around a meal with good friends.
The California American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is an independent professional association for the field of marriage and family therapy dedicated to advancing the profession as an art and a science, to maintaining high standards of professional ethics, to upholding the qualifications for the profession and to expanding the recognition and awareness of the profession.
